Relative Performance Evaluation and Competitive Aggressiveness

چکیده

We examine the relation between incentive plans based on relative performance and competitive aggressiveness. Using data executive incentive-compensation contracts in large U.S. firms, we find a positive association aggressiveness peer group overlap—that is, extent to which two firms select each other as peers these plans. Our findings indicate that managers of such take more frequent well complex actions, evaluated without overlap. Moreover, show tactics are pronounced when compete against: (1) with similar grant sizes, (2) metrics, (3) same industry. Collectively, our provide evidence how widely used practices relate strategic firm decisions.

Correlation and relative performance evaluation

This paper reexamines the issue of relative versus joint incentive schemes in a multiagent moral hazard framework. It allows to contrast the inference dimension and the insurance property of relative performance evaluation. Importantly, the widespread idea that the principal should use all the more competitive schemes that the equilibrium outcomes are more correlated is shown not to be robust. ...

Optimal Relative Performance Evaluation

The theoretical prediction of a negative coe¢ cient on positively correlated peer performance that underlies much of the empirical literature on relative performance evaluation, is commonly obtained from the special case where variance-covariance matrix of the performance measures is exogenously restricted to be independent of the evaluee’s action. Using the dynamic approach of Holmström and Mi...

Competitive relative performance evaluation of neural controllers for competitive game playing with teams of real mobile robots

In this research, we describe the evolutionary training of artificial neural network controllers for competitive team game playing behaviors by teams of real mobile robots (The EvBots). During training (evolution), performance of controllers was evaluated based on the results of competitive tournaments of games played between robots (controllers) in an evolving population. Competitive tournamen...
